About the Team

The Embedded Systems Development Team is the bedrock of our autonomous systems, responsible for bringing our hardware to life. Our team's mission is to build the robust and reliable foundation for Avride’s universal self-driving platform, powering both autonomous cars and delivery robots. With core experience in design, manufacturing, and production deployments and direct access to the latest technologies, we own the complete stack—from the PCBA topology, through microprocessor firmware and system-level software to the application code. We thrive on solving hard problems at the intersection of hardware and software to build what's next in autonomy.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, direct, and goal-oriented Technical Project Manager to join our team. This is a role for someone who is not afraid to take ownership and manage complex, hardware-centric projects from end-to-end. You will be the driving force behind our demanding technical projects, overcoming the challenges of bringing physical products from concept to reality. We need a manager who can speak the common language with our engineers and dive deep into technical discussions. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about solving complex problems to deliver real-world impact, we want you on our team.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and own complex technical projects end-to-end, prioritizing tasks to maximize impact and achieve company goals.
  • Organize cross-functional collaboration, provide realistic timelines, and ensure clear ownership and deadlines for all tasks.
  • Design and implement practical processes, focusing on value, clarity, accelerated development, and harmonized expectations.
  • Act as the primary owner for resolving complex technical issues in products and infrastructure, focusing on the underlying business problem.
  • Serve as the central communication hub, keeping stakeholders informed on project status, risks, and milestones to ensure global alignment across different timezones with the remote teams.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or related STEM fields.
  • 5+ years managing multiple concurrent hardware/software projects in a fast-paced industry, with a track record of ruthless prioritization and realistic timelines.
  • Essential Soft Skills:
    • Adaptability & Resilience: Thrives with shifting priorities and ambiguity; calm under pressure, embracing change.
    • Extreme Ownership: Deep responsibility for outcomes; proactive in problem-solving.
    • Radical Candor: Direct, clear, respectful communication; delivers difficult news and constructive feedback effectively.
  • Mature understanding of core project management principles, driving results through expectation management and clear ownership, not formal frameworks or process artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of bringing complex physical products from concept to reality, including component sourcing, hardware prototyping, manufacturing, quality control, and service campaigns.
  • Strong engineering/computer science foundation for quick technical learning; able to read Python/C++ code, understand schematics and system architecture for technical discussions.
  • Ability to work in highly technical environments, including Linux, Docker, ssh, and configuring/launching hardware.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the management roles in automotive or robotic startups.
  • Familiarity with common hardware interfaces like CAN, SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet.
  • Experience in embedded systems, software engineering and electrical engineering.
  • Experience with API integration projects.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and manufacturing environments.

Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the U.S. The employer is not offering relocation sponsorship, and remote work options are not available.
